Never eat bitter zucchini

They are said to be juicy and low in calories. You often come across young zucchini in stores, which is no accident. Larger and more mature zucchini contain a greater proportion of so-called toxic steroids (cucurbitacins), which can be dangerous especially for children and the elderly.

Fortunately, an excess of these poisons manifests itself in a bitter taste, so if you come across a bitter zucchini or cucumber, do not eat them. It spoils the taste of your food, but it can also give you indigestion!

Too much watermelon

This favorite vegetable is great in summer, and no wonder, it’s refreshing and sweet. In addition, it is said to dehydrate and purify the body. Therefore, it becomes a part of various reduction diets. According to experts, an excess of watermelon is not so healthy.

If you eat 600 grams of watermelon in one go, you can expect nausea, diarrhea, bloating or other digestive problems. But be especially careful of unripe, but also overripe watermelons. They contain toxic steroids that can cause fever, vomiting or hallucinations.

Watch out for potato sprouts

If you have greenish potatoes with sprouts in your basket at home, you’d better throw them away. According to experts, these tubers contain an extreme amount of solanine – a gycoalkaloid, which in such a quantity resists heat treatment and thus disrupts your digestion. If you don’t want to have digestive problems, it’s better to head straight for the compost with the old potatoes.

Unripe tomatoes

Green tomatoes contain two toxins at once – solanine and tomatine. This “two” will not bring you happiness. On the one hand, it is slightly poisonous and also tastes absolutely horrible. Therefore, let your greens ripen on the windowsill, for example. The sun breaks down these toxic substances.

Eggplant just modified

This king of Greek cuisine has one secret. It contains glycoalkaloids, so-called solamarins, the amount of which depends on the degree of maturity of the fetus. But the truth is that raw eggplant is not only full of toxins, but also bitter. Therefore, consume it only after heat treatment. This will improve its taste and you will enjoy the night without unnecessary dashes to the toilet.

Rhubarb is not for everyone

This vegetable is characterized by a refreshing sour taste that stands out wonderfully in flours and compotes. Rhubarb contains oxalic acid, which can disrupt the metabolism of minerals, especially calcium. That is why it is not suitable for everyone who suffers from diseases of the kidneys, urinary tract, rheumatism or gout. Pregnant women or children should also temporarily eliminate rhubarb from their diets.

Asparagus fruits are poisonous

Most of us only know asparagus from the processed stalks. But did you know that vegetables also have red fruits that are toxic to humans? That’s why you’d better never taste them.

Beans just well cooked

Nutritionists are urging the public to eat more legumes. But in the case of beans, you need to be careful that they are sufficiently cooked. Raw or uncooked legumes contain the toxin lectin, which can cause diarrhea or vomiting.

Cassava never raw

It belongs to exotic types of vegetables. Its tubers are up to 100 centimeters long and can weigh a respectable two kilos. These are fruits that are made of water, so they rot quickly and must be consumed quickly. However, cassava also has one drawback: when eaten raw, it can turn into cyanide poison.

Overgrown cucumbers

Its fate is similar to that of zucchini. If you let this crop overgrow, it will increase its content of toxic steroids (cucurbitacins), making it bitter and dangerous. Better not to eat such vegetables and wait for young cucumbers to grow in your garden. They are crispier, juicier, tastier and most importantly – healthier.
