Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Museum will continue to welcome its visitors

Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Museum will continue to welcome its visitors Culture and trends

The museum, which was opened by NKFKAV in Ümraniye in 2019, includes the personal belongings of Kısakürek, who left deep traces in Turkish intellectual life with his ideas and works, the furniture he used and the memories that have survived to this day. Emrah Kısakürek, General Coordinator of Büyük Doğu Publications, and Şeyma Kısakürek Sönmezocak, NFKKAV Chairman of the Board of Directors, told the AA correspondent about the activities of NFKKAV so far, the reasons for the closure of the museum and what they want to do in the near future.

Emrah Kısakürek said that they met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2015 and decided to establish the museum with the initiative of Mehmed Kısakürek in order to preserve Necip Fazıl Kısakürek’s belongings and present them to enthusiasts.

“IN THE ECONOMIC CRISIS, ONE OF THE FIRST TRANSCENDS TO LOST IS THE CULTURE TRANSCEND”

Stating that they founded NKFKAV in 2015 and started preparations to open the museum at that time, Emrah Kısakürek said, “The belongings in our home, documents, documents, photographs, everything started to be collected in the foundation. The search for a location continued and preparations were made on how the documents would be presented. Until 2019.” “We could neither find a place nor be shown an area. Unfortunately, the planned places were allocated to other institutions. We came to the place in the Keresteciler Sitesi in Ümraniye with our own means in 2019. We rented this place and created a museum within 1 month.” said.

Kısakürek stated that the Covid-19 epidemic started 7-8 months after the opening of the museum and therefore they could not publicize the museum much, and said:

“Due to the effects of social media and our various events, students, doctoral students, professors and schools contacted us. They came to visit at certain periods and evaluated this place. We continued our museum and research center work with the budget of Büyük Doğu Publications until 2024. But publishing is going through difficult times. In this economic crisis, one of the first trenches to be lost is the cultural trench and the book reading section. Therefore, although the publication of the Master’s books continues, our income has become insufficient to cover the expenses of this place, and after a while, it turned into a rent that tripled. We decided to close it, thinking and anticipating that we would not be able to continue this. We may change cities from now on, but we need to have a little more economic power to establish the museum in one place. Of course, after this news spread, some of our elders called us and said, ‘What can we do? ?’ “They also requested a meeting with us on this issue. We could not participate immediately due to our own busyness, but perhaps we will reach better results by meeting with them in the next few days.”

“WE WILL CONTINUE OPERATIONS HERE FOR A SHORT TIME”

NFKKAV Chairman Şeyma Kısakürek Sönmezocak emphasized that she observed that the book is not valued as much as it used to be due to the change in economic conditions and said, “Therefore, this is like dominoes in a way, as soon as they fall, they all continue to go away. The foundation is not a foundation that receives regular donations anyway. Of course, we want it, but “There has been no such attempt yet and it has continued to exist until now under the auspices of Büyük Doğu Yayınları.” he said.

Sönmezocak pointed out that many activities such as exhibitions, theater and play works, and scenario studies have been held within the foundation so far, and stated that the foundation has not closed down, only the museum and research center have difficulty in maintaining their physical existence.

Stating that they plan to collect the items in the museum and take them back to their homes, Sönmezocak said that they have started to pack the documents in the archive and research center and continued his words as follows:

“The issue was actually a matter of physical space. We will continue to support those who want academic support, cinema and theater support. This is not just a Necip Fazıl issue, but actually a cultural issue. It is an issue related to how we look at culture. Saying some things is more than expressing them.” Our behavior also shows our perspective in that direction. A friend of ours, whose name we do not know, attempted to cover the 1-year rent of the place we were in. We, of course, thanked him and accepted this help. We will continue to operate here for a short time. “We have expectations for this idea, not for us personally, at the points where we think it is valued in some way.”

“IT’S NOT A MATTER OF ITEMS, IT’S A MATTER OF IDEAS…”

Şeyma Kısakürek Sönmezocak reminded Necip Fazıl Kısakürek’s words, “My cause is the path of God” and said, “If we can make one more person hear the words he said, it would be a great blessing for us. Our hearts desire that there would be crowds, that people would come in droves. It is a matter of ideas, not things.” .. The master’s view of things, his mastery of things, seeing these things is the issue, because these are the issues that drip from his mind.” made his assessment.

Pointing out that the elegance that Necip Fazıl Kısakürek attributes to Muslims can also be seen in the museum, Sönmezocak added that they would like to show the belongings and works of their grandfathers and to ensure that the new generation understands the world of meaning.

Sönmezocak underlined that the purpose of NFKKAV’s establishment was to show the right path to those who want to know, learn and understand Necip Fazıl Kısakürek and said, “We already have a museum in good order and 300 thousand documents that have been digitalized. We wanted to continue to smell the master. We have a library full of the master’s works.” You will find the information in the book. We followed the same path, opened the door of the Master, come in or go back to another door. We have the same goal and purpose. We will continue to do whatever we can under any circumstances. he said.
