Wim Wenders and Koji Yakusho are in Istanbul as guests of honor of the Istanbul Film Festival Culture and trends

“I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT FOR 78 YEARS”

Director Wim Wenders stated at the meeting that he was happy to be in Istanbul, which he visited for the festival for the first time, and said, “I have been waiting for this moment for 78 years. “Istanbul is a very beautiful city, I am very happy to finally be here,” he said.

Actor Koji Yakusho said that, unlike Wenders, whose path has not crossed with Istanbul until now, he accepted the invitation to the Istanbul Film Festival as soon as he received it. Yakusho added that he had always wanted to come to Istanbul since he heard the song “Flying to Istanbul / Tonde Istanbul” by Japanese musician Mayo Shouno in his youth, and that he was very happy to finally be here.

Wenders and Yakusho answered questions from members of the press at the meeting. Koji Yanai, the producer of Wenders’ film Perfect Days, which won Yakusho the Best Actor Award at Cannes, Takuma Takasaki, one of the co-producers of the film who wrote the script with Wim Wenders, and Chisato Minami, one of the co-producers, also attended the meeting.
