Clothes dry twice as fast in Ukraine. The right washing time and room selection are important

Garden

Sometimes in life we get into situations where we need our laundry to dry as quickly as possible. For example, when a child pees or throws up the sheets or when we need to pack for a last minute vacation. There are ways to get your laundry to dry as quickly as possible even if you don’t have a dryer. Because if you have it, definitely use it.

We wash fast, we wash smart

If we are in a hurry to do laundry, we choose the shortest and most efficient washing cycle possible, so that we can have it washed within an hour, preferably within half an hour. As soon as the washing machine beeps, we don’t run to get the clothes out of it. We are running to add one more spin cycle to get the clothes as dry as possible out of the washing machine. A really great habit is to set the washing machine for early in the morning, hang it up before leaving for work after being pampered, and only collect the dry clothes in the evening.

Hand pressing

You can also try a trick that our mothers and grandmothers used when they still ironed sweaters and nylons nicely by hand in the bathtub. As soon as you take the laundry out of the washing machine, spread it on a towel, roll the laundry in it and wring it out thoroughly.

Heat and air

We hang the laundry evenly on the dryer, which we place under, next to or above the heat source. The source of heat can be the sun, a radiator or even a boiler. When hanging laundry, we make sure that each piece of clothing has enough space around it, because if we cram them together, they will dry more slowly.

Where air flows, laundry dries easily. That’s why we let it dry outside in nice weather and in the unsightly one near an open window. Ideally, we open the windows on the opposite side of the apartment to create a draft. If none of the above is possible, we can help ourselves with a fan. We place it near the clothes dryer and turn it on.

Where to (not) dry at home?

To be as efficient as possible in drying your laundry, you may need to start drying in a different room than the one you have been drying in so far. A larger bathroom in a family home with the heating turned on and the window open can be almost ideal, in which the linen will not dry so quickly. Better avoid the basement, it’s too humid there by itself. It is best if you choose a sufficiently spacious room located on the south side.
