Musician & Actor. A highly-influential guitarist, he is remembered for his “twangy” playing style. He scored numerous Top 30 hits during the late 1950s into the early 1960s. Raised in Tucson, Arizona, he formed a partnership with songwriter and producer Lee Hazlewood which resulted in the million selling hit “Rebel Rouser” (which achieved a number 6 placing on the American Pop Charts in 1958). He went on to have Top 10 hits with “Forty Miles Of Bad Road” (achieving a number 9 placing in 1959) and “Because They’re Young” (title song from the film which starred Dick Clark and Tuesday Weld which achieved a number 4 placing in 1960). Other hits include his rendition of the songs “Peter Gunn” (1960, from the TV series of the same title), “Pepe” (1961, from the motion picture of the same title) and “The Ballad Of Paladin” (from the TV series “Have Gun- Will Travel.” In addition, Eddy had acting roles in the films “A Thunder of Drums” (1961), “The Wild Westerners” (1962), “The Savage Seven” (1968) and “Kona Coast” (1968). During the 1970s, he turned to producing while continuing to record records into the 1980s. He received a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental in 1986 and in 1994, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
