Professional Baseball Player. Joseph Clark Shipley was a major league baseball relief pitcher. He was drafted by the White Sox when he was 17 but was traded to the first-ever team to play in San Francisco, the San Francisco Giants, in 1958. He stayed with the Giants from 1958 until 1960. In 1963, he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals. After retiring from baseball, he went to work at General Motors and eventually at Station Casinos. For over 25 years, he was a security guard. During his baseball career, he played in 29 games and had a win-loss record of 0-1 and an ERA of 5.93 with 23 strikeouts.
