MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – BelAZ Deputy Director General for Strategic Development and Corporate Management Aleksei Grachev talked to reporters on 30 March and mentioned how the Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer intends to handle new sanctions enforced by the United States of America, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about the USA’s recent sanctions targeting BelAZ, Aleksei Grachev remarked that the company is already thoroughly analyzing possible risks. “These risks will be taken into account in all aspects of the company’s operation and we will be 100% ready for them,” he stressed.

The executive also talked about BelAZ’s efforts to substitute imported components. “In these troubled times the Russian Federation has started supplying us with electric components as well as engines, which are the heart of a haul truck. On the whole, we’ve substituted a large choice of imports. Among other things I’d like to mention the Yekaterinburg-based manufacturer of hydraulic pumps Pnevmostroimashina,” Aleksei Grachev added.

In his words, BelAZ has signed contracts on vehicle deliveries till the end of 2023. Active negotiations on orders to be fulfilled next year are underway.

In 2022 BelAZ shipped over $800 million worth of products to the Russian Federation, including 843 haul trucks. In January-February 2022 the company shipped about $153 million worth of products to Russia, including 144 vehicles.

Aleksei Grachev said: “After sanctions were introduced, we lost access to over 1,500 components. Back then we had to accomplish an ambitious task: to ensure technological independence of our products while preserving the entire lineup of mining vehicles and special vehicles.”
