Experts conducted a survey among 2,000 people and revealed the main mistakes made when washing clothes, claims the British newspaper The Sun.
An unnamed spokesperson for the company said that consumers rarely think about the environmental impact of frequent use of the washing machine. According to the expert, lowering the water temperature during washing causes much less damage to the environment.
“If the people of Britain were to wash their clothes in cold water, it would be equivalent to taking around half a million cars off the road: that amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide) is saved by such a seemingly trivial thing,” he stressed.
In addition, the survey showed that 68 percent of respondents always separate white from colored underwear, while 29 percent admit to not sorting things out, which experts say is a mistake. Additionally, 51 percent of respondents said they have accidentally used bleach while washing colored laundry.

According to an Ariel spokesperson, washing machine settings should not be overlooked. The specialist recommended using different wash cycles for different types of clothing, as delicate items can easily deteriorate.
Experts also revealed that survey participants often forget to check their pockets, which is why napkins or coins end up in the drum. More than half of those surveyed are known to wash clothes at the lowest possible temperature, while 51% fear that washing at 30 degrees or lower will not wash clothes well.
It is noted that among the respondents there are also those who try to protect the environment and minimize its pollution. For example, 66% start washing only when the drum is full to save water and energy.
