The golden rule that will protect seedlings from the black leg: note to summer residents

Оther news

After sowing seeds for seedlings, many summer residents check plantings almost every hour.

Beginning gardeners, who are just mastering all the subtleties, do this especially zealously.

Summer residents approach containers with seedlings for various reasons: just to admire, illuminate, ventilate, cover, loosen.

But, as experienced gardeners noted, the main thing is not to grab the watering can once again. Overflow is fraught with the fact that the so-called “black leg” appears in young plants.

Under this name, a whole group of seedling ailments is hidden. They appear due to the weakened immunity of plants. Excessive watering leads to this result.

Therefore, summer residents have developed a “golden rule”, thanks to which their seedlings grow and do not get sick.

When seedlings start to look like they need to be watered, gardeners check soil moisture. Feel the soil with your fingers to better determine the true state of the soil.

Looking at the surface of the earth, it may seem that the seedlings are in dire need of watering. But the crust on top can be deceiving – underneath, most likely, the soil is quite wet. Watering is not needed if soil lumps remain on the fingers.
