Two dogs on the run got into an enclosure for chickens and ducks in Kungsäter, in Varberg, on the night of Sunday, the police write on their website.
– About 20 chickens and ducks may have been bitten to death, it was a horrible sight, says the bird owner Stefan Heland Silander whose wife discovered what happened after the family’s own dog started barking.
– My wife went out to look – she just screamed straight out when she saw what happened, Stefan Heland Silander tells.
Police were called. They were able to quickly find the dog owner because the dogs were chipped. The dogs had dug their way out of the kennel they were staying in and then made their way into the chicken coop the same way.
– Some birds have survived, others have escaped. It feels understandably sad, notes Stefan Heland Silander.
The dogs were returned to the owner, who is now suspected of violating the law on supervision of dogs and cats.
