A press statement issued by the government media office in Gaza:

The “Israeli” occupation’s invasion of Rafah Governorate portends a profound humanitarian catastrophe as a result of closing the crossings, preventing the entry of aid, and depriving the sick and wounded of traveling for treatment. We hold the American administration and the occupation responsible for this crisis.

The government media office warns of a profound humanitarian catastrophe that has begun to take shape as a result of the “Israeli” occupation’s invasion of eastern Rafah Governorate, and the “army’s” occupation of the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, as well as the occupation’s prevention of the entry of medical and food aid trucks, and its also prevention of the travel of thousands of sick and wounded people, and this gives indications. It is clear that there is a real crisis in the Gaza Strip.

During the past two days, the “Israeli” occupation has prevented the entry of more than 400 trucks of aid, food, supplies and medical equipment. It has also prevented the occupation from traveling to 159 cancer patients and wounded – preventing them – from traveling to receive treatment in hospitals outside the Gaza Strip.

We affirm that the entire Gaza Strip, in light of the genocidal war, lives on aid and subsidies, and that the crime of stopping this aid threatens to cause famine for more than 1,700,000 people living in the southern governorates, and all of them will not be able to obtain a single meal a day, and hunger will eat away everything green and dry. During the coming days, in light of the lack of food and water as a result of the aggression.

We condemn the continuation of the “Israeli” occupation in its ongoing aggression against Rafah Governorate and all governorates of the Gaza Strip, and we call on all countries of the world to condemn this heinous, inhuman crime.

We hold the American administration, the Israeli occupation, and the international community fully responsible for this catastrophe and the deep humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, and we hold them responsible for the disastrous consequences of their insistence on deepening the famine in the southern Gaza Strip.

We call on all countries of the free world to put pressure on the occupation in order to stop the aggression against Rafah Governorate, and to open the crossings immediately and urgently. We also call on them to stop the war of genocide, and we demand the opening of an independent international investigation into the crimes against humanity committed by the occupation against civilians, children and women, starving them and depriving them of treatment. And food and water.
