Lieberman criticizes Netanyahu and calls on him to resign Рolitics

Today, Thursday, May 9, 2024, the leader of the Yisrael Beytenu party, Avigdor Lieberman, directed sharp criticism at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and called on him to resign from his position.

Lieberman told the Hebrew newspaper Maariv: “I say: Netanyahu, how can you not be ashamed to continue as prime minister?… Take responsibility already and return to your home.”

Regarding the relationship with the United States, he added: “We live thanks to American generosity, and if the United States had not used its veto in the Security Council (in February against the ceasefire in Gaza), the whole world would have ended relations with us a long time ago.”

He added: “The relationship with them (the Americans) has deteriorated only because Netanyahu wants to stay at any cost. He does not care about the homeland, and his only consideration is political survival.”

He pointed out that “Netanyahu prefers to reach an agreement with the Saudis, declare a Palestinian state, and go to elections.”

Regarding this, Lieberman said, “The Saudis want peace with Israel, not because of us, but to push the non-peaceful nuclear program forward in the US Congress.”

There was no immediate official Saudi comment on what Lieberman said.

Regarding the elections, he added: “I must work with all my might to persuade politicians to advance the election date, and they must also understand that this is not a child’s game, and we must rise above any other consideration and go to the elections.”

He warned, “The ones suffering most currently are startups, and we will lose young people who take laptops and leave Israel.”
