Today, Friday, November 10, 2023, Qatar called on the international community to intervene urgently to protect Al-Shifa Medical Hospital, west of Gaza City, and considered the delay in doing so a signal to Israel to target it.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on: “The international community to intervene urgently to provide protection for the complex and those in it,” stressing that “delay in putting pressure on the occupation to dissuade it from this crime will give it a signal to proceed with targeting the complex and other health facilities without discrimination.”
It warned “of the Israeli occupation’s intention to commit a new massacre in the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in western Gaza, and considered that the repeated Israeli provocations by targeting its surroundings and the outpatient clinics building therein are a prelude to targeting the complex in which 60,000 displaced people have taken refuge.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed “Doha’s rejection of the repeated crimes of the Israeli occupation targeting civilian objects, including hospitals, schools, and population centers in the Gaza Strip.”
It renewed “Qatar’s firm position on the justice of the Palestinian issue, the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and the establishment of its independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Al-Shifa Hospital and its surroundings are constantly targeted by bombing by the Israeli army, claiming that “there is a headquarters for Palestinian militants” there, which the Gaza government has repeatedly denied.
At dawn on Friday, Israeli warplanes targeted a number of hospitals in the Gaza Strip, including Al-Shifa Complex and Al-Rantisi Specialized Hospital for Children.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip indicated that the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital was targeted again by Israeli bombing.
She explained that the Israeli army shelled the hospital’s surroundings “intensively.”
