Today, Saturday, November 11, 2023, the work of the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit will begin in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to discuss the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which continues for the 36th day in a row.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived yesterday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to participate in the summit, which is being held to discuss stopping the aggression against our people in Gaza and the West Bank, and the unprecedented humanitarian crisis that the Gaza Strip is witnessing.

This summit was decided to be held exceptionally in Riyadh, instead of the “Extraordinary Arab Summit” and “Extraordinary Islamic Summit” that were scheduled to be held on the same date, in response to the exceptional circumstances taking place in Gaza.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi headed today to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to participate in the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit, which will be held in Riyadh.

Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the extraordinary joint summit between the Arab and Islamic countries aims to enhance consultation and coordination regarding the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip and the rest of the Palestinian territories, and ways of Arab and Islamic action regarding it.

President Sisi’s participation in the Arab Islamic Summit comes as a continuation of Egypt’s role since the beginning of the crisis in making every effort to advance ceasefire efforts and provide safe access for humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip, as well as advancing the path of reviving the peace process and a just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution. In accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan headed to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to attend the extraordinary joint summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League.

The presidential plane took off at 09:30 local time, where Erdogan was seen off by his deputy Cevdet Yilmaz, Director of Presidential Administrative Affairs Metin Kiratli, and the Governor of Ankara, Vasip Sahin.

Erdogan is accompanied on his visit by the Director of the Presidential Communications Department, Fahrettin Altun, the Director of the National Intelligence Service, Ibrahim Kalin, and the President’s Senior Advisor, Ambassador Akif Cagatay Kilic.

President Erdogan will attend the extraordinary summit to discuss the Israeli attacks on the occupied Palestinian territories, especially Gaza, and the Palestinian people.

Representatives of the Islamic world at the summit are expected to exchange ideas about the concrete steps that will be taken regarding the developments.

President Erdogan, who will deliver a speech at the summit session, is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with the participating leaders on the sidelines of the summit
