The White House announced, this evening, Sunday, April 28, 2024, that the Gaza floating port that the United States is working on Build it To bring more aid into the Gaza Strip, it will begin operating within a few weeks, but it will not be an alternative to land routes, which are the best way to bring food supplies into the Strip.

“It will probably take two to three weeks before we can really see any operation,” John Kirby, coordinator of strategic communications at the US National Security Council, said in a statement to ABC News.

Kirby pointed out that the floating platform, the goal of which is to bring more food and other necessities into Gaza, will help, but within limits.

He added: “In all honesty, nothing can replace the land roads and trucks that enter” the Strip.

Kirby noted that Israel is now allowing more trucks to enter, including into the most affected northern Gaza, adding: “The Israelis have begun to fulfill the commitments that President Biden has asked them to fulfill.”

The Pentagon said last week that the US military had begun building a floating dock aimed at accelerating the delivery of aid.

The Israeli army announced last night that the United States of America is continuing to build the temporary floating port on the Gaza coast, with an area estimated at more than 281 dunums.

The Israeli army said that the floating port on the Gaza coast may be fully operational by next May.

He added that the United States is building a temporary floating dock, through which humanitarian aid will be transported, and will be linked to the shores of the Gaza Strip.
