The announcement comes after Nintendo released an unexpectedly weak financial statement for the broken fiscal year 2023-2024.
Operating profit for the fourth quarter was ¥64.5 billion, down 31 percent year-on-year, compared with analysts’ expectations of ¥74.7 billion, according to Bloomberg. Sales fell 9.6 percent to ¥277 billion, in line with expectations.
The company gives at the same time a forecast for the coming fiscal year with, among other things, an operating profit of ¥400 billion, against expectations of ¥478.
A total of 13.5 million Switch consoles are expected to be sold, compared with 15.7 million in the past year.
Switch was released in 2017 and has sold a total of over 141 million copies.
