Club legend Valentin Verga stops playing hockey after 17 years in Amsterdam Sport

Verga became national champion twice with Amsterdam, in 2011 and 2012. He also played 193 times for the Dutch team. He competed at two Olympic Games, with a silver medal in 2012 and a 4th place in 2016.

“Next Sunday, Verga will play his last home game at the Wagener Stadium, a moment that will certainly be emotional for him and the fans,” says Marc Staal, chairman of AH&BC. “His dedication and passion for the game have made him an AH&BC legend, and we are forever grateful for his contributions to our club.”

After 17 seasons, Verga’s tally is 91 goals for AH&BC. He scored his first goal for Amsterdam at home against Laren on March 2, 2008. He scored the most against ‘neighbor’ Pinoke: 9 times.

In September, Verga will receive a special farewell match from his club.
