Lack of clarity irritates Telstar player Tom Overtoom: "It's like it or not" Sport

After strong matches at home, the season is almost over for Telstar. Still, Tom Overtoom thinks it was nice, because his team ‘doesn’t play for anything anymore’. The midfielder is also still waiting to see what will happen to his expiring contract. “It’s like it or not,” says the 33-year-old Amsterdammer.

Overtoom heard at the end of March that his expiring contract would not be extended by Telstar. The door is still ajar, because the club had to formally make that announcement, but it can still negotiate with the player. More than a month later, Overtoom is still none the wiser. “A bit of clarity would have been appropriate. I don’t think that’s nice.”

Overtoom has not yet had a conversation with technical manager Peter Hofstede about a possible new contract. “I’ll wait, but then again I won’t,” says Overtoom, who is visibly irritated. “I don’t think the last few weeks are decisive. They know what they can get from me.”
