Paris did it again

After last weekend’s success at the Adidas Arena, Paris once again got the better of Saint-Quentin (71-67) to qualify for the semi-finals of the Leaders Cup. The Capital club will be Monaco’s opponent this Saturday in Saint-Chamond.

The weeks follow one another and are similar for Paris. Falling from Saint-Quentin last Sunday to celebrate the inauguration of the Adidas Arena, the Capital club has not lost this good habit. Indeed, Tuomas Iisalo’s players dominated the Aisne club this Friday during the last quarter-final of the Leaders Cup. If the start of the match was indecisive, it was Saint-Quentin who quickly took charge under the leadership of Tyger Campbell (20 points).

An 8-0 put the SQBB in the lead on the scoreboard with a gap which remained at six units at the end of the first quarter. An advantage which, however, did not resist the backlash of the Parisians, who set the sights, starting the ten minutes leading to half-time with a 14-6 allowing them to get back in front of their opponents. Touched but not sunk, Julien Mahé’s protégés regained their feelings to finish this second quarter better, returning to their locker room with their hand on the scoreboard, even though it was only two points behind.

Paris jostled but qualified

Upon returning to the floor of the Arena Saint-Etienne Métropole, Paris changed tempo thanks to TJ Shorts (15 points, 6 assists) and Tyson Ward (15 points). A 9-0 from the start set the tone. If Saint-Quentin tried to resist to return to a unit, it was the Capital club which had the advantage, approaching the last ten minutes of this quarter-final with four lengths in advance.

An end to the match which could have turned into a nightmare for the Parisians because, after having pushed the Aisne players back to seven points, they seemed to have lost their footing to the point of finding themselves behind on the scoreboard. A situation which lasted only a few seconds, the time for Paris to start a 7-0 which put an end to the suspense. The Capital club won in the end by four points (71-67) and completed the semi-final field of the Leaders Cup. The expected show will take place with Monaco who will be the Parisians’ opponent this Saturday evening.
