ST. GEORGE — There are candidates aplenty for this year’s municipal election cycle in Iron and Washington counties.

St. George News has compiled a list of names that represents those who seek to remain in public service via re-election and their challengers, who are either testing the waters for the first time, are returning for another try at a council seat or are former council members running anew.

Due to the recent announcement of Congressman Chris Stewart’s resignation taking effect Sept. 15, the Utah Legislature will move the dates of the municipal primary and general elections to Sept. 5 and Nov. 21 in order to accommodate a special election to replace Stewart.

Some municipal races have been left blank as information regarding who has filed to run in those races has not been released or posted as of publication time. They will be updated as information becomes available.
