Cook County Housing Authority names Jon Duncan interim director

U.S. NEWS

Jon Duncan was appointed the temporary executive director of the Housing Authority of Cook County on Wednesday.

Duncan currently serves as general counsel for the housing authority and will continue to perform those duties. He has been at the agency since 2011.

His appointment comes as Richard Monocchio exited his role of 12 years as the executive director last week to become the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s principal deputy assistant secretary for public and Indian housing Monday.

Duncan told the Tribune he did not expect to take on this role and has no interest in serving permanently as executive director. He said he stepped in because there are two interested candidates, instead of one, who currently work for the agency. Those two candidates, Alesia Hushaw and Sheryl Seiling, will apply to become executive director in the organization’s national search that is beginning immediately.

The Housing Authority of Cook County was established in 1946 and helps provide affordable housing to thousands of residents.
