Narrative:

The Dover Police Department has arrested Shafeqah Freeman, 37, of Dover, on DUI and related charges following a pursuit Saturday morning. The investigation began at 5:10 a.m. when officers were conducting traffic control on North DuPont Highway due to a vehicle collision. Freeman approached the area and failed to yield to the emergency vehicles, nearly striking one, and fled at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop Freeman at which time she continued to flee, eventually traveling westbound on Loockerman Street. Freeman ran several red lights and almost struck several curbs. At this time the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.

Officers in the area observed Freeman’s vehicle stopped near Forest Street and South West Street shortly after the pursuit ended. Officers were able to take Freeman into custody without incident and it was determined that she was under the influence of alcohol. Freeman was transported to Dover Police Department where she was processed and arraigned.

Freeman was released on unsecured bond on the following charges:
-Disregarding a Police Officer Signal
-Failure to Yield / Change Lanes For Stopped Emergency Vehicles
-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
-Several Traffic Charges
