Police recover over $5K in merchandise stolen from Ulta Beauty

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) — Arrest warrants have been issued for four individuals involved in a theft at Ulta Beauty located in Berkshire Crossing. The defendants were due in Pittsfield District Court on Tuesday but failed to appear.

On Monday night, the Pittsfield Police Department responded to a shoplifting report at Ulta Beauty at 555 Hubbard Ave. Employees provided police with a description of the vehicle that fled the scene.

Shortly after, police located and stopped the vehicle at 875 Dalton Avenue. The officer observed a plastic bag full of perfume and cologne in the vehicle. While the traffic stop was happening, another officer was viewing the surveillance footage at Ulta Beauty.

Two individuals who matched the description of the surveillance footage were arrested. Rayquan Carter, 22, of Albany, NY, and Jonneasia Welcome, 19, of Menands, NY, was taken into custody. Two juveniles from the Albany area were also arrested. 39 bottles of perfume and cologne worth $5145 were recovered from the vehicle.

Carter was charged with Organized Retail Crime, Receiving Stolen Property Over $1200, and Possession of an open container of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle. Welcome, and the two juveniles were charged with Organized Retail Crime and Larceny Over $1200. The four were released on personal recognizance.

According to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, over $37,000 of products have been stolen from the same Ulta Beauty store in four separate incidents over the past month. Investigations are ongoing.
