Thrift Shop

Springfield – St. Gregory Armenian Church, 135 Goodwin St., in the Indian Orchard section, offers a thrift shop on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Gently used clothing and accessories, household items, books, children’s items, collectors’ items and more will be for sale. Drive-in collection of donations

Springfield – Foster Memorial Church, UCC, will hold their monthly outreach “Drive-In Collection of Donations,” on Saturday, June 10 from 1 to 3 p.m., in the church’s back parking lot. They will be collecting non-perishable food for the Emergency Food Cupboard of the Open Pantry in Springfield. The church is located at 1791 Wilbraham Road in the Sixteen Acres section. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Open and Affirming church

Monson – On Sunday, June 11, the congregation of the First Congregational Church of Monson, 5 High St. will celebrate becoming an official Open and Affirming Church, one that affirms the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ persons in the church’s life and ministry. The service will begin at 10 a.m. and end with raising a Pride flag outside. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Feast of St. Anthony of Padua

Agawam – Sacred Heart Parish, 1061 Springfield St. in the Feeding Hills section, presents Feast of St. Anthony of Padua, on Tuesday, June 13. There will be a special Mass at 9 a.m. with the blessing and distribution of the St. Anthony Bread.

On Friday, June 16, the parish will be celebrating the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, patron of the parish. There will be a Sung Mass at 9 a.m. All are welcome.

LYA Scholarship dinner

Longmeadow – Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy will hold a “Scholarship Dinner,” on Thursday, June 15, “From Dreams to Reality” honoring Charlie and Lorie Epstein at Mill One in Open Square in Holyoke. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner. Charlie Epstein is an actor, comedian, author, and financial consultant, born and raised in Springfield/Longmeadow. Cost to attend is $136 and RSVP to info@lya.org. Tag sale

Agawam – Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St. is having a huge tag sale on Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Featuring household goods, luggage, toys, puzzles, games, clothes and much more.

The church will hold it’s annual Strawberry Supper on Saturday, June 24 at 5 p.m. The menu features roast pork, roasted potatoes, green beans almondine and homemade strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream. Tickets are $20 each and are available for purchase in the church office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon.

Variety show

Granby – The Berkshire Hills Music Academy Dance Team and other selected vocalists and musicians will be performing in a variety show at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State St. on Friday, June 16. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and the show will begin with a 45-minute presentation by the Academy’s SHINE group. The second segment of the show will feature vocalists and instrumentalists to close out an evening of “magical” proportions. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Polish plate dinner

Springfield – A Polish plate dinner (pierogi, golabki, kapusta, kielbasa, rye bread), eat in or take out will be offered at Immaculate Conception Church Hall, 25 Parker St., in the Indian Orchard section on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 each, please call: Maria Kowalski, 413-222-6229; Maria Bukowski, 413-427-9464 or the parish rectory at 413-543-3627. Also available is frozen Polish food (pierogi, golabki, kapusta.)

The parish youth group will be holding a tag sale on the parish grounds on Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will go towards youth activities.

Coffee house

Springfield – Christ Church Cathedral, 35 Chestnut St., is inviting its parishioners and the local community to the newly established Coffee House on Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m. Performers are assigned 15 minutes to sing, dance, read poems and dramatic readings. Grab a coffee or tea from the snack bar. Call the Office Administrator if you are interested in performing at 413-736-2742.

Father’s Day picnic

Springfield – St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church will hold its annual Father’s Day Picnic on Sunday, June 18, from noon to 5 p.m. on the church grounds at 135 Goodwin Street, in the Indian Orchard section. Visitors are invited to enjoy many favorite Armenian dinners including shish kebab and rice pilaf. Baked goods will also be available for purchase. The picnic will also feature a raffle, Armenian music and dancing, and outdoor activities. Admission and parking are free. For more information, please call the Church office at 543-4763.

Joyful noise workshop

Westfield – First Congregational Church, 18 Broad St., presents “Make a Joyful Noise” free workshop for students entering grades 2 through 8 on Monday, June 19 through Thursday, June 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Run by experienced teachers. Featuring singing, African drumming and creating art. First rehearsal

Agawam – The first rehearsal for the Catholic Women’s Club of Agawam’s entertainment will be held on Thursday, June 22, in the St. John the Evangelist Parish Center gymnasium, 833 Main St. at 7 p.m. All members are invited to be cast members and share their talent. Rehearsals will continue throughout July and Aug. Come with ideas for skits, songs or something you might want to present.

Church events

Sunderland – First Congregational Church of Sunderland, 91 S. Main St., Serendipity Shop is open on Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with items for sale at bargain prices.

Sacred Heart Church upcoming trips

Springfield – Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St. Travel Club is back. Jim and Caroline McAleer are the trip leaders. On Tuesday, Aug. 15, it the annual Hampton Beach Day. Cost is $50 per person and includes roundtrip bus and driver gratuity. The bus departs from Sacred Heart parking lot at 7:15 a.m. and the bus departs from Hampton beach, at 5:15 p.m. There will be a 15-minute stop in Charlton going up and a 15-minute stop in Charlton going back. Payment due with reservation ASAP.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. Cost, they are awaiting ticket and bus prices, but anticipate approximately $175 per person to include round trip bus, orchestra seat to the 5 p.m. performance (lasts 90 minutes), time in NYC on your own, and driver gratuity. Short rest stop on the way to NYC and on the way home. The bus departs from sacred Heart at 7:30 a.m. and the bus departs NYC immediately following the show with approximately 10:30 p.m. return. Accepting vendors for the Christmas bazaar

Ludlow – St. Elizabeth Parish, Hubbard Street is now accepting applications for the St. Nick’s Christmas Bazaar that will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 in the pastoral center. Each 8′ table is $40 each-which the church will provide. To request an application or additional information, call Pat at 413-531-6997.

Additional adoration times

Agawam – St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St. will offer weekly adoration ceremonies on Wednesdays between noon and 5:30 p.m. The Holy Mass takes place at 6 p.m. Lawn signs are available for Agawam residents announcing the Year of the Eucharist. Contact the parish office to obtain one, 413-786-8105, ext. 101.

Free weekly Veterans lunch
