Search underway in waters off of Staten Island near Bayonne Bridge

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities are searching for a possible person in the waters of the Kill van Kull off of Staten Island on Friday morning, according to a source with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Authorities are looking into an unconfirmed report transmitted by the Bayonne Police Department about a missing person who possibly could be in the water, according to multiple sources.

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching the waters as a precaution, according to the source from the Coast Guard.

The FDNY and the NYPD also are assisting, according to emergency radio communications.
