Tigers lineup for Reese Olson’s debut Friday in Chicago

U.S. NEWS

Rookie right-hander Reese Olson will make his Major League debut when the Detroit Tigers take on the Chicago White Sox on Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Eric Haase will be behind the plate for Olson’s debut. Newly acquired veteran Jake Marisnick will get another start in center field.

The full lineup is below. Catcher Jake Rogers; and infielders Jonathan Schoop, Tyler Nevin and Zack Short will be available off the bench.

Olson, 23, was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Daniel Norris in 2021. The right-hander made 25 starts for Erie in 2022, striking out 168 in 119 2/3 innings.

He got off to a miserable start this season at Triple-A Toledo, posting an 8.44 ERA over his first eight starts. But in his last two starts, he’s allowed just one earned run in 10 innings, striking out 19 and walking two.

Veteran right-hander Mike Clevinger was activated from the injured list before Friday’s game to start for the White Sox. He’s 3-3 with a 4.56 ERA in nine starts (47 innings) so far this year. Clevinger signed a one-year, $12-million deal before this season.
