47-year-old military man Sergei Statkevich defended Ukraine at the front, but due to injury, he has been serving in one of the TCC of the Chernivtsi region for six months. And because of the attitude of some people towards the employees of military registration and enlistment offices, he admits that it is more difficult for him here than in the war.
The story of the military man was told by the Suspilna Chernihiv. Before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Sergei lived in Italy for 18 years, where he had a business. However, 2 months before the start of the big war, he returned to Ukraine – he believes that everyone should defend their state. Sergei decided to join the 80th Air Assault Brigade.
He fought in the Mykolayiv region, near Kherson, Energodar (Zaporozhye region), Izyum (Kharkiv region), Bakhmut (Donetsk region), as well as in the Donetsk and Lugansk directions.
After one of the battles near Lisichansk, he was hospitalized near Bakhmut. Subsequently, in the Chernivtsi hospital, the Military Military Commission declared the man unfit for service in the airborne assault forces, but fit for military service.
“I was severely concussed then and the shock wave tore off a blood clot in my arm. It was a miracle that I remained alive then, because the blood clot did not go to my heart. Then literally a week after the hospital I went to zero,” said Statkevich.
At his own request, Sergei continued to serve in the airborne assault forces. However, after some time he began to have health problems, so he wrote a report for transfer to service at the territorial recruitment center. It is noteworthy that it was signed only seven months later – all this time Sergei fought in the Zaporozhye direction.
Since October 2023, Sergei Statkevich began serving in the TCC. However, even after six months it is difficult for him to adapt and he cannot find himself in civilian life, Suspilne writes.
“Our people don’t appreciate what they have. There is no war for people. When I go out on alert, they often curse, swear, and send me back to war. While I was there, at the front, I was a hero for you, but now, It turns out, no one else. How is this so?” – says the military man.
Use of force against TCC workers
From time to time, news appears in the information space about the use of force against TCC employees. For example, recently such a case occurred in the Chernivtsi region. There, locals carried out a massive attack on TCC and SP workers – one of them was forced to use weapons. It is noted that the TCC employee fired shots into the ground, no one was injured.
At the beginning of April in Kyiv, a man with a knife attacked workers at the Desnyansky TsKK. The military called the police.
