Construction began in July last year.
The airfield that the Russians are building in the Belgorod region was originally intended for business jets, but was eventually converted for military needs.

Leading researcher at the State Aviation Museum Valery Romanenko believes that the occupiers also need this airfield for the transfer of assault units from the Far East and the north of the country. They can also transfer an aviation squadron from Primorsko-Akhtarsk to work near Kharkov.
The aviation expert notes that the new airfield will not be able to become a permanent air base for a military unit, since it can be hit from the Alder and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, if they can be blocked from UAVs and moved closer to the front line. And in the event of air threats, the Ukrainian army will be able to temporarily disable it by striking the runway.

OSINT researcher RedIntelPanda recently stated that Russian invaders are building an airfield 75 km from the Ukrainian border.
It was reported that the work was stopped, but resumed at the end of April – now the occupiers are working on the runway.
The founder of the Conflict Intelligence Team and military analyst Ruslan Leviev stated that this airfield is being built by the EFKO company for its business jets.
