War in Ukraine news

According to experts, since October 10, in total, the Russian Armed Forces have been able to capture only 4.52 square kilometers from different directions around Avdeevka. ISW also doubts that the Russian army will be able to encircle the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison in the city.

The Russian Armed Forces launched a large-scale and prolonged offensive against Avdeevka in the Donetsk region. Attacks are carried out simultaneously from several directions using armored groups. This was reported by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

A new report dated October 12 states that the occupiers are using significant numbers of armored vehicles and aircraft. Despite this, in two days the Russian Armed Forces were unable to achieve any significant breakthroughs. Most likely, they will not be able to encircle the Ukrainian Defense Forces grouping in Avdiivka itself.

Analysts said that since October 10, in total, the Russian Armed Forces have been able to capture only 4.52 square kilometers from different directions around Avdeevka. Currently, Russian troops are located at a distance of 3.32 kilometers from the ground communication line of the Ukrainian Armed Forces along the O0562 highway from the south and at a distance of 5.52 kilometers north of Avdeevka.

Experts say the Russians have lost large numbers of armored vehicles as part of their offensive operations. Analysts suggested that this may be due to the fact that the command of the Russian Armed Forces did not learn lessons from the previous offensive near Ugledar in February 2023. Then the invaders tried to advance in columns.

Let us remind you that the media reported that the Russian Armed Forces lost up to a battalion of military equipment in 48 hours. According to OSINTtechnical analysts, the Russians allegedly lost 13 artillery pieces, 15 tanks, 33 infantry fighting vehicles/armored personnel carriers, six trucks and 14 cars in 2 days.
