Russian authorities reported intercepting a UAV.
On the night of May 2, drones attacked several regions of Russia. In particular, explosions occurred in the Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Rostov and Smolensk regions, as well as in the Krasnodar Territory in the Kuban.
The Russian Ministry of Defense traditionally announced the interception and destruction of UAVs: “Duty air defense systems destroyed and intercepted 12 Ukrainian UAVs, of which: five – over the territory of the Bryansk region, one – over the territory of the Kursk region, one – over the territory of the Belgorod region, two – over the territory Rostov region and three – over the territory of the Krasnodar Territory.”
Russian Telegram channels report that drones hit railway infrastructure in the Oryol and Kursk regions.
“The drones attacked traction substations located near the Ponyri and Svoboda stations in the Kursk region. After 15 minutes, traction substations located on the Zmievka-Glazunovka section in the Oryol region were attacked. Transformer substations were also attacked on the same section. As a result, at the Zmievka and Glazunova there was an emergency power outage, as a result of which two trains traveling from Moscow (to Belgorod and Lgov) were delayed,” one of the messages says.
Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin said that the drones attempted to attack a civil energy infrastructure facility in the region. A fire occurred as a result of the UAV attack.
The governor of the Oryol region, Andrei Klychkov, and the governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoyt, also announced damage to the energy infrastructure.
