Using a special mobile app to track calories, Andrea Pence realized that she was deficient in protein in her diet.

38-year-old Andrea Pence, a mother of two from Tennessee (USA), lost 140 pounds (about 64 kg) in two years, without particularly restricting her diet, but rather eating her favorite yogurt with bagels. The woman only increased the amount of protein consumed in her diet and controlled caloric intake, writes Business Insider.

Pence admitted that she used to feel constant fatigue, joint pain and shortness of breath even while walking. One day she decided to take control of the situation and set herself a goal to lose 90 pounds (about 40 kg).

Using a special mobile app to track calories, the American realized that she had a protein deficiency in her diet. In particular, nutritionists recommend consuming approximately 100 grams daily (depending on weight).

Now Andrea eats Greek yogurt for breakfast, and for lunch and dinner she prefers semi-finished protein products, without denying herself her favorite dishes or sweets (bagels), but consumes them in moderation.

“I don’t deny myself anything. This approach has helped me achieve success in the long term,” says the woman, who, thanks to the new diet, got rid of sleep apnea and felt a surge of energy to exercise daily.

She criticizes diet culture where people only eat “bland food” when in fact you can enjoy delicious food with portion control.

Pence says she previously had trouble losing weight, although she switched to “healthy menus” such as fruits and granola, but underestimated their calorie content. Now the American woman does not even deny herself fast food.

“If I want a cheeseburger, I’ll have a cheeseburger,” she adds.

Let us remind you that earlier Focus wrote about Zach Muncy, who lost more than 180 kg in three years. Doctors told the American when he was just 20 years old that he might not live to see his 25th birthday. Weighing 317.5 kilograms, the man was confined to a wheelchair.

Additionally, an Australian woman from Queensland, Australia, stated that she drank only orange juice for 40 days straight and never felt healthier in her life. Anne Osborne spoke about her experiment and also shared how it affected her physical and emotional well-being.
