Howitzer L119 in the Ukrainian Armed Forces - paratroopers spoke about the use of British installations War in Ukraine news

According to the military, assault operations are constantly underway in the Novomikhailovka area, but despite this, the fighters do not have enough ammunition.

The Ukrainian army is armed with British L119 trailed guns. The ArmiyaInform report showed how howitzers are used by artillerymen of the 79th separate air assault Tauride brigade.

The fighters stood in the Novomikhailovka area, where two Russian brigades and four regiments were advancing, which daily storm military positions. The report was published on April 30, but it was recorded last week, the publication noted. When journalists arrived at the position, the front was “humming with drones and shells.”

“We’re already used to it—it’s like Boryspil airport,” one of the fighters said, laughing.

During the conversation, the military noted that their work depends on the supply of ammunition. So while they were being unloaded, the reporters were offered coffee. The gun commander, Yaroslav, previously worked in the police, but in 2022 he left for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

At first, Yaroslav worked as a driver, but later he was also on the Soviet D-30 cannon. However, he liked the British L119 better. It is more effective, but also requires a shorter distance to the enemy.

“The gun is simpler, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to work with your head. Even NATO ammunition has a certain error, and there can be a flight of 50 meters in one batch, depending on the brand, so I write everything down and make calculations,” said Yaroslav.

He also added that there is still a shortage of ammunition. Previously, they could work all day, but now the batches of shells are smaller. Gunner Stepan also started on the D-30, worked in the crew of a 120-mm mortar, and already mastered the L119 in a “working environment.” According to him, he still remembers his first destroyed tank.

Ammunition supply still insufficient, fighters say

“Not only are there not enough shells, there have been shells for 78-79 years. New ones are put in one another. And with the old ones there are a lot of adjustments. But every delivery now is like a holiday. Because we didn’t come here to rest or hide. The gun fires flawlessly, there is no flame, only gunpowder is so strong that the taste remains in the mouth,” said Stepan.

Let us remind you that on April 17 in the UK there was an explosion at the BAE Sysyems plant, which repairs Ukrainian artillery.

In March, Kamyshin said that BAE Systems is ready to produce L119 howitzers in Ukraine.
