Is the Crimean Bridge important for the Russian Federation today or not? War in Ukraine news

The Ukrainian defense forces can successfully fight against the Russian railway, which opponents built in case of the destruction of the Crimean Bridge, the analyst noted.

Military expert Alexander Musienko denied information published in The Independent that Russia is not using the Crimean Bridge in the war against Ukraine.

The analyst spoke about this during the telethon. “Some say that traffic across this bridge has decreased, which means it is done and does not pose a threat. This is not true if you look at the situation strategically. Because when we say that the Russian Federation is active in the east, they do not need the bridge now. But if after some time, they will aim to increase activity in the south, for example, on the left bank of the Kherson region. They need a bridge,” Musienko explained.

He also added that Russia will need the Crimean Bridge when the Ukrainian Defense Forces begin their own offensive campaign. “When Ukraine carries out actions according to the plan for liberation, for example, of the left bank of the Kherson region, there should not be a bridge. Since this is the main logistics artery that now goes to the occupied Crimea. And from Crimea comes support for the group of Russian troops in the Kherson region. This bridge has lost its significance only temporarily,” Musienko said.

In addition, the expert noted that Russia’s construction of a railway in the occupied part of the Donetsk and Zaporozhye regions is not a panacea, since Ukraine can successfully fight it.

“This section runs on electric traction, it is connected to the energy sector. Here is the key to understanding. If you hit the objects that meet the needs of this railway, it can be disabled. There are also bridges across the Kalmius River in the sections. At the beginning of this In 2009, one of these bridges was destroyed by the Himars strike. Also, these are locomotive depots and junction stations that are within the reach of Ukrainian weapons, because acting against the railway track is ineffective, since it can be quickly restored,” Musienko noted.

According to aviation expert Konstantin Krivolap, the Crimean Bridge has weak points. In particular, we are talking about the lower part and the arch, which allows ships to pass under the bridge.

Another expert, Andrei Ryzhenko, is convinced that in order to destroy the Crimean Bridge built by the Russian invaders, tens of tons of explosives, and perhaps even hundreds, are needed.
