Lavrov commented on possible peace negotiations with Ukraine War in Ukraine news

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, the peace formula proposed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is “Russophobic and illusory.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claims that Moscow does not reject the proposal for negotiations to end the war, but immediately stressed that in Ukraine and Western countries “there is no one to talk to.” He stated this in interview journalist of the Bosnian-Serbian TV channel “ATV”

Among other things, Lavrov criticized the holding of the “Global Peace Summit” in Switzerland. The head of the Russian diplomatic department recalled that the head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, promised him to discuss new ideas based on “realism” at the conference.

“However, the Swiss Confederation is no longer a neutral state. It is in the forefront of those who support and arm the Kiev regime. This state takes the toughest position towards Russia, including in terms of introducing new sanctions,” Lavrov expressed his dissatisfaction.

He also expressed the opinion that the meeting in Switzerland will be based on the “openly illusory and Russophobic” Ukrainian peace formula.

“When our Swiss colleagues declare their desire to invite Russia to the first conference, they are not telling the truth. We will not participate in any events that in one way or another promote Vladimir Zelensky’s “peace formula”. Everyone has known this for a long time. We are seriously open to negotiations on based on reality,” he says.

At the same time, Lavrov considers statements about Russia’s refusal to negotiate “dishonest”. At the same time, he mentioned the “peace” initiatives of China, South Africa and Brazil.

When the journalist asked Lavrov to imagine that Kyiv and Western partners have a desire to cease fire and begin negotiations, he noted: “There is no one to talk to yet. I have already given examples of statements by the political leadership of Ukraine, the United States and Europe. None of them are ready for serious conversation.”

On May 2, the Office of the President of Ukraine announced that the peace summit in Switzerland, which will be held on June 15-16, will become a platform where we will talk about achieving a comprehensive, fair and lasting peace for Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

Also Focus wrote that, according to the speaker of the President of Ukraine Sergei Nikiforov, following the results of the global peace summit in Switzerland, they can develop a common negotiating position, which will then be voiced to Russia.
