Citizens who have the right to a deferment from service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine can voluntarily join the army by signing a contract, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said.

The new mobilization law will come into force on May 18, after which Ukraine will undergo a number of changes in the conscription process. The Ministry of Defense told which of the men will be able to receive a deferment from service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Who can get a deferment from conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Since May, deferment has been provided to the following categories:

  • are reserved for authorities and are on special military registration;
  • persons with disabilities of groups I, II, III or temporarily unfit for service due to health reasons;
  • those who are raising three or more children under 18 years of age and do not have arrears in child support payments;
  • those who care for a sick family member who is a person with a disability;
  • adoptive parents, guardians of orphans and children who have been deprived of parental care;
  • family members who were killed or missing during the anti-terrorist operation or other defense activities, family members of the fallen heroes of Ukraine from the Heavenly Hundred;
  • those who study full-time or dual-time;
  • government officials, people’s deputies, judges, government members, military personnel;
  • diplomatic officials, civil servants in the field of cybersecurity and IT (the apparatus of the Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the OP);
  • other persons specified by the law on mobilization.

The Ministry of Defense noted that the deferment can be issued through the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Persons liable for Military Service or Reservists based on data from other state registers. Also, men who have the right to a deferment from service can voluntarily join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by signing a contract.

Let us remind you that lawyer Nikolai Maksimov said that the state can seize a citizen’s home for non-payment of a fine, in particular for violating the legislation on mobilization. It is also possible to block the evader’s bank card.

Earlier it became known that in Ukraine a summons can be served in any place, because specific ones are not defined in the legislation. Such a document must be completely filled out; partial entry of data in advance is permitted.
