Landsbergis is convinced that a tour of representatives of Ukraine’s allied countries to the United States in support of military assistance to Kyiv “could work quite well.”
European politicians intend to tour the United States to convince American politicians and the public of the need to strengthen support for Ukraine. This is a response to calls from some Republican lawmakers to reduce the flow of aid, military equipment and funds to Kyiv, Politico writes.
“We need to find ways to reach [общественности] on both sides of the Atlantic. Don’t forget that there are real voters who see their problems in a certain way. We have a plan to travel to individual states, meet (for example, with companies that sell equipment that actually creates jobs in the US). Most of the money that was spent on Ukraine was actually spent in the United States,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said.
Landsbergis is convinced that such a tour of representatives of Ukraine’s allied countries “could work quite well if not only American politicians are involved, but also those who depend on this assistance and on this direction of foreign policy.”

The list of countries that will be involved in the initiative is unknown. However, Estonia confirmed its participation in this area of work.
“My foreign minister was in Arkansas talking to people and expressing his views, so this is what we do all the time,” said Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
US military assistance to Ukraine – you need to know this
There are discussions going on in Washington around aid to Ukraine. US President Joe Biden, whose administration recently requested $106 billion in aid for Ukraine, Israel and other countries, has begun to emphasize in public messages about support for Kiev that much of the spending on Ukraine actually stays in America, creating jobs and supporting business.
There is resistance to aid to Ukraine in the Republican-majority House of Representatives. The new speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the US Congress, Mike Johnson, focused on strengthening the US border with Mexico and supporting Israel in its war against Hamas, but excluded assistance to Ukraine from the list of priorities. At the same time, there is debate in the Senate over whether aid to Ukraine and Israel should be combined into one package.
Earlier this month, the US Congress cut spending on Ukraine through an emergency relief bill.
