Rosatom Vitaly Polyanin was appointed by Paks II. To the director of the construction project of a nuclear power plant from November 20, the Russian nuclear energy concern told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the information, the previous director, Aleksandr Merten, is still responsible for strategic matters, including the coordination of political, financial and legal cooperation concerning the project.
The new manager will manage the construction of the new nuclear power plant blocks, the provision of the materials and equipment necessary for construction, as well as the design and construction documentation, the announcement reads.
Before his appointment, Vitaly Polyanin was the construction project manager of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, the nuclear power plant began commercial operation in early November 2023.
Paks II. The nuclear power plant project is implemented on the basis of the Russian-Hungarian intergovernmental agreement concluded on January 14, 2014, and the three contracts aimed at the construction of the new power plant. Paks II. The construction permit for the construction of a nuclear power plant was issued in August 2022 by the Hungarian nuclear authority, the National Atomic Energy Agency. Paks II equipped with two VVER-1200 type 3+ generation blocks. The nuclear power plant will be built on a turnkey basis.
Paks II. The nuclear power plant is the first Russian project on the territory of the European Union. Four VVER-1200 type units are already successfully operating in Russia, as well as two of the same type in Belarus. Roszatom’s order portfolio covers 33 blocks in 10 countries, Roszatom announced.
