The Russian invaders do not plan to stop in their intention to completely destroy the critical infrastructure of Ukraine, said the speaker of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ilya Yevlash on the air of an information marathon.
“This night, the enemy used only one X-59 guided missile, which, unfortunately, is already customary against civilian and energy infrastructure,” Yevlash said.
The speaker noted that in recent days there have been no recorded massive missile launches, combined attacks or the use of a large number of attack unmanned aerial vehicles by the Russian Federation.
He also said that the main goal of the Russians is to destroy the Ukrainian strategic and critical infrastructure at any cost and break through the protective air defense dome that exists in many cities of Ukraine.
“They use everything, even such formidable weapons as the “Dagger”, to hit and achieve their goals of destroying our energy facilities. Therefore, we see that they will not stop until they either completely destroy them, or we stop them at that stage, on which they already exist,” Yevlash said.
Separately, he commented on the downing of a Russian reconnaissance drone by a Yak-52 piston training aircraft, which occurred on April 27.
According to him, the Defense Forces do not have enough different means to combat such inconspicuous small targets as reconnaissance drones, which can transmit information to the enemy from high altitudes and correct missile and bomb attacks.
“Any means, in this case, will be useful to fight them,” Yevlash said. For example, Ukraine needs a variety of missiles to complement its existing capabilities and needs a very large number of Gepard self-propelled artillery units to cover all threatening directions where the Russians are sending reconnaissance drones.
At the same time, he was asked about the timing of strengthening Ukrainian air defense, and in particular, whether it would be possible to protect Ukrainian energy facilities before the fall.
Yevlash said that as much money as possible to strengthen air defense was already required “for the day before yesterday.”
“Because we need not only the systems themselves, but also ammunition and missiles for them, which are used extremely quickly,” Yevlash said.
We need different systems, and in particular, different ranges, including in combination with F-16 fighter aircraft.
“This must be a system that will completely protect against air attacks of various types with carriers and cover itself. Therefore, it is necessary to build just such an option,” Yevlash said.
In addition, he said that the supply of weapons to Ukraine by international partners is not a subject of public discussion.
“Of course, our partners know about our need, and as soon as we have these weapons directly, you will see the results in the daily morning reports,” Yevlash said.
As UNIAN reported, on April 29 in Kyiv, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg expressed expectations that the allies will make new announcements of support for Ukraine. The Alliance Secretary General stressed that allies must quickly turn announcements and commitments of new assistance into actual deliveries to Ukraine.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said Ukraine will receive Patriot missiles without delay. In addition, work continues on the provision of additional Patriot complexes, but there are no clear specifics yet.
