The climate on the planet and in Ukraine is changing, and the air temperature is increasing significantly. The greatest growth is observed in winter and summer. Vera Balabukh, head of the department of applied meteorology and climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the State Emergency Service and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, spoke about this in an interview with Channel 24.
According to her, rising air temperatures in winter lead to precipitation falling in the form of rain and sleet, which is why stable snow cover rarely forms. In the future, this will lead to the disappearance of snowy winters in Ukraine.

“A further increase in air temperature will lead to the fact that these processes will intensify and snowy winters will become a rarity for us,” said Vera Balabukh.
She noted that the climate on the planet and in Ukraine in particular is changing, and the air temperature increases significantly, especially in winter and summer. Because of this, the modern winter in Ukraine has become on average 1.5 degrees higher than it was 50 and 30 years ago. Therefore, the abnormally warm winter this year is not an accident. This is a pattern of processes that began earlier.
According to the expert, human activity is contributing to the increase in temperature on the planet, due to which the greenhouse effect has significantly increased. If humanity does not change the development scenario, temperature increases will continue to be observed.
“The air temperature in Ukraine will also increase significantly. Winter will become even warmer and by the end of the century in Kharkov it could be the same as it is now in Kherson,” Balabukh said.
