The United States must continue to support Ukraine to prevent the Kremlin’s aggression from scaling up.
Democratic Minority Leader in the House of Representatives Hakeem Jeffries believes that the United States will have to intervene in the war against the Russian Federation “not only with American money, but also with the military” if Ukraine falls.
“We can’t let Ukraine fall, because if that happens, there’s a significant chance that America will have to get involved – not just with our money, but with our troops,” he told CBS News.
According to the congressman, the United States must continue to support Ukraine to prevent the Kremlin’s aggression from scaling up. Jeffries recalled that first the Russian Federation invaded Georgia, and only then occupied Ukrainian Crimea.
“Are we to believe that in the face of this kind of consistent aggression, that if we allow Vladimir Putin to succeed in Ukraine, he will stop only in Ukraine? Of course not,” the politician stressed.
Possible dispatch of Western troops to Ukraine
At the end of February, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the European Union was discussing sending Western troops to Ukraine. At the same time, the leaders of the countries themselves disowned such ideas.
The other day, Macron said that they would consider sending ground troops into Ukraine if the Russian invading army breaks through the front line.
Recently, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron spoke out about sending NATO troops to Ukraine. According to him, Macron’s idea is not practical.
At the same time, Italy noted that Macron’s statements about Western troops in Ukraine are escalating tension.
