Russian media report that the authorities have already decided the fate of General Sergei Surovikin, who disappeared from view for a while.
On Wednesday, September 6, a page with the biography of the disgraced General Sergei Surovikin disappeared from the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense, as Anastasia Kashevarova, former adviser to the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, reported on her telegram channel. Viktor Zavarzin, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, said that Surovikin had found a “good” position “in the CIS.”
He told the Russian edition of Podyem about this.
“He fought well, well, the situation has passed. I know that you, too, found him another position, changed him, his chief of staff executes the commands of the commander-in-chief, he has a different position, it is not bad, in the CIS or whatever it is called correctly. But let’s wait and see, this is not the main thing. The man was at war, now he is resting, probably, he will be on vacation for some time. Let’s wait and see. Nothing terrible is happening there,” Zavarzin said.

Recall that Sergei Surovikin served as Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation. In October 2022, he was sent to command a “special operation” in Ukraine. But already in January 2023, Surovikin was removed from the post of commander and appointed his deputy successor.
After the mutiny, organized by the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, purges began in the Russian Federation among top military officials suspected of involvement in the riot. Presumably, among the detainees was General Surovikin.
A few days after Prigozhin’s death, Surovikin appeared in Moscow. Information about his release was confirmed in the media.
Official representatives of the Russian authorities still do not comment on the information about the arrest of the general, his release and further fate.
