Russian occupiers continue to use sabotage and reconnaissance groups to enter the territory of Ukraine, especially in the Sumy region. Speaker of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko said this at a briefing.
“The most active direction where the enemy continues to use its sabotage and reconnaissance groups remains the Sumy region,” he said.
At the same time, he added that previously there was activity of enemy DRGs in the Kharkov region, but recently it has decreased. According to him, no activity of enemy DRGs has been recorded in the Chernigov region either.
“But the Sumy region remains some kind of priority for them. Because in fact, several enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups are exposed within a week. We can’t say that they come in, or try to come in every day, but several groups per week, recently – such is their activity,” Demchenko said.

On January 27, 2024, a Russian reconnaissance and sabotage group cynically executed people from the Khotyn community of the Sumy region in the morning.
The head of the Sumy regional military administration, Vladimir Artyukh, said that the Russians shot a brother and sister who lived in the village of Andreevka, which is located in a 5-kilometer border zone with the Russian Federation.
He appealed to residents of the 5-kilometer zone with a request to evacuate. At the same time, he recalled that this is the only way to save your life from the invaders and expressed condolences to the loved ones of the executed Ukrainians.
