Ukrainian Armed Forces urged not to seek sensation - UNIAN War in Ukraine news

According to Ilya Yevlash, it is quite difficult to immediately determine the type of UAV used by the enemy.

Speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ilya Yevlash commented on the telethon on the air attack of the Russian Federation on the night of April 28, during which the invaders used drones of an unidentified type.

“When the drones attacked Nikolaev, quite a bit of time passed from the moment of launch. The enemy attacked from the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. And before they approached the city itself, where these drones, attack drones, were shot down, about half an hour passed. To identify what kind of drone it was, while it is in the air, it is quite difficult. For this, you can first use only the altitude and speed parameters,” Yevlash said.

He explained that to establish in detail the type of drone, the expertise of specialists is needed. They must study the wreckage, after which it will become clear exactly what the enemy used to hit Ukraine.

“You shouldn’t look for sensations here; most likely, it was the Shaheds. However, sometimes due to the short amount of time and long distance, it is quite difficult to immediately determine the type of drone,” explained Yevlash.

In addition, the representative of the Air Force commented on the possible emergence of new Russian drones, such as modified Shaheds or jet UAVs.

“This is still only at the informational stage. We know how the Russian propaganda machine likes to exaggerate its achievements. Now they use reconnaissance drones of various types. As for strike drones, the most common ones they have are the “Shaheds”, with which they strike almost daily in Ukraine,” Yevlash said.

UAV of unknown type – what is known

On the night of April 28, Russian occupiers used four Shahed-type drones and five unidentified UAVs against Ukraine. All Shahed-type UAVs and one drone of an unidentified type were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces and means.

Commenting on information about drones of an unidentified type, Dmitry Pletenchuk, head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, noted that the Russian Federation is using various types of drones in Ukraine. These are usually “Orlany-10”, Zala, Supercam, and much less often – “Forpost” or Mohajer-6. He added that the unidentified UAVs were most likely reconnaissance ones.
