what targets were Russian missiles and drones flying at on May 8 (infographics) War in Ukraine news

The Russians hit a facility located near the city of Stryi in the Lviv region for the sixth time. In addition, the Ladyzhynska Thermal Power Plant in the Vinnytsia region, in the direction of which the kamikaze drones were flying, could have been hit.

During the missile and drone strike of the Russian Armed Forces on the night of May 8, Ukraine was hit with five types of weapons, attacking from the northeast and south. The missiles looped in order to deceive air defense systems, fly across the entire territory of the country and hit a facility in the Lviv region. The route the Russian missiles took and where they were heading was reported on the Tkacking Telegram channel.

Analysts relied on information from open sources and created an infographic with the trajectory of missiles and drones of the Russian Armed Forces. On the infographic you can see which target was threatened by the largest number of Russian weapons – this is a target in the Lviv region, probably the city of Stryi. The following were sent to the specified point:

  • aeroballistic missile Kh-47M2 “Dagger” – flew from northeast to west (indicated in yellow);
  • Kh-101 cruise missiles – flying from the northeast and southeast (indicated in red);
  • sea-based cruise missiles “Caliber” – launched from the Black Sea (indicated in blue).

The note drew attention to the complex trajectory of the Russian Armed Forces missiles. Thanks to this trajectory, the Russians tried to bypass air defense systems, the researchers noted.

“The missiles again approached the target with frequent changes of movement in order to complicate the work of the air defense forces,” the report said.

On the infographic you can see what set of weapons were used at targets in other regions of Ukraine:

  • Kyiv, Zaporozhye, Kremenchug – X-101 and drones flew;
  • Lviv region, Vinnytsia region, Poltava and Kharkov – drones (indicated in blue);
  • Dnepr – X-101.

Let us note that the regional military administrations of Vinnytsia and Lvov regions named the settlements that were threatened by the Russian strike on May 8. In the Vinnytsia region, they talked about Ladyzhyn, where the Ladyzhinskaya TPP electricity and heat generation facility is located. In the Lviv region they talked about Strya, where the underground gas storage facility is located. As Energy Minister German Galushchenko said, the Russians hit infrastructure facilities in six regions. In addition to the two mentioned regions, it went to Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovograd, and Poltava.

The enemy has already hit the facility in Stryi six times, noted the Tracking Telegram channel. I wrote about one of the previous attacks Focus: The attack took place on the night of March 24. Then the head of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Alexey Chernyshov, confirmed that the Russians were targeting the storage facility. There are no comments yet regarding the latest strike.

Meanwhile, the Air Force reported that the Russian Armed Forces used 76 weapons on the night of May 8. Among them were also three ballistic missiles that launched from Crimea.

We remind you that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky showed a photo of one of the energy facilities hit during the shelling on May 8. The day before it became known about the effectiveness of Russia’s use of North Korean missiles, half of which, as it turned out, explode in the air.
