Cars are “abandoned” on the sidewalk, in courtyards, and at pedestrian crossings – the ingenuity of a person who has not found a convenient place for his car can only be matched by the size of the fine for this.

Where you can’t park and stop – differences and rules
Every driver should know the difference between these two concepts. A stop is considered to be a cessation of movement for up to 5 minutes for various reasons – boarding/disembarking passengers or something else that does not take much time. As soon as the process lasts longer than 5 minutes and the car is simply standing still, it already qualifies as parking.
So, you can’t stop:
- At the railway crossing.
- On the tram track.
- In tunnels, on bridges, overpasses, and also under them.
- At intersections and within a radius of ten meters from them.
- In the area of 3 m from the dividing strip, a continuous marking line.
- Ten meters from the site of road works, corresponding signs.
- In such situations, when it becomes impossible to pass a car, it becomes impossible to miss it.
- Where the vehicle closes the traffic lights/signs for other cars.
- Near the exit from the adjacent territory, at a distance of 10 m from it.
As for how many meters away you can’t park? in front of the pedestrian crossingthen the legislation of our country prohibits doing this in a ten-meter zone from a pedestrian crossing and at the crossing itself.
It is also important to remember how many meters you cannot park from the stop – do not leave your car at a distance of 30 m from a public transport stop.
Where and under what sign you can’t park
First, you should know what a “No Parking” or “No Parking” sign looks like. It is depicted as the English letter P crossed out with a red line in a red circle.
After memorizing the corresponding sign, keep in mind where you cannot park – Ukraine prohibits doing this in the following places:
- At a place with a prohibitory sign.
- On the pedestrian sidewalk (if there are no special signs), in addition to motorcycles, passenger cars, if they leave the pedestrian path two meters.
- On lawns, bike paths.
- Within a radius of 50 m from the railway station, crossing.
- On country roads in the area of a sharp turn, where road visibility is less than 100 m.
- In places where the vehicle interferes with the passage of other cars and the movement of pedestrians.
If you don’t know how many meters from the pedestrian crossing you can and cannot park, and also violate traffic rules, you will face fine – up to 15 tax-free minimum incomes. Now the amount is 340 UAH, with a repeated violation – 680.

Where you cannot park in the yard and on the sidewalk
Parking in the courtyard of a multi-storey building also has its own rules – it is not prohibited by law, but it is important to adhere to the following points:
- do not leave the car on the lawn and flower beds;
- do not park close to trash cans;
- do not abandon the car with the engine running;
- by improper parking, do not block the passage of special equipment or government services (for example, ambulances, police, garbage trucks);
- do not park cargo vehicles whose weight exceeds 3.5 tons (exception – special permitting markings or road signs).
There is no direct ban on parking on the sidewalk; it is permitted, but it is important that the car owner leaves two meters of space for pedestrians and does not disturb them with his parking.
