“How cruel it is, in fact, how much death and suffering there is, and unfortunately it’s not only in one breed, but literally now and every veterinarian knows that every breed behind itself, behind its appearance, actually hides diseases that are genetically embedded in it on purpose. They can be avoided, but then the dog won’t look the way they want it to look,” says Oman.

Six dogs died at the exhibition in 2007

They also called out the Croatian Kennel Club, claiming that they forbid it in principle, but in practice tacitly support it.

“The greatest suffering in breeding occurs in breeding that is not adequate and controlled, where you do not have legal inspections and health tests”, adds the secretary of the Croatian Kennel Club. Bojan Mataković.

At the exhibition, they say, everything is according to the rules and no dogs are tortured.

“Most of them enjoy it. You can see them wagging their tails and running. That the show itself is suffering, which can be seen when there are inexperienced guides, but not at such big shows. These are dogs with their tails down, so they don’t they want to show off. I mean, if the owners are okay with it, most dogs like it,” Mataković claims.

Veterinarians are also present at the exhibition all the time. in 2007 in Zagrebduring this exhibition, six dogs died.
