Adela Krivanek Magerl she is a private detective who has been doing this work in Croatia for 12 years.
The person who hires her will try to find out who is stealing from him, whose Internet fraud he fell for, whether his employee is taking fake sick leave, but not whether his spouse is cheating on him, reports HRT.
– Recently, I received an email from abroad where the guy explained that he has been in a relationship for seven years and that for some reason he doubts his girlfriend’s fidelity and that he would like to check with whom she was on vacation here with us – she said Adela. He does not take on such cases, he passes them on to his colleagues. According to her, there was no legal interest here.
– First, they are not married at all. On the other hand, even if they are married, each person has the right to privacy, to personality and to a part of their life. Although many of our colleagues say – in the family law it is stated that spouses are obliged to be faithful. Yes, they are obliged, but they are not obliged – she said.
Even if she wanted to, it would be difficult to check where the lady in question was and how she was spending her time. Hotels and tourist boards would not give her such information. Unlike, for example, Austrian detectives who even use vans in which entire surveillance laboratories are assembled, Croatian detectives are legally allowed to have very few aids.
The strangest cases
– A pad, a pen and a manual camera, because he can only take photos on the spot – she said.
She is approached with the strangest cases – young people, whose way of communicating is unusual for someone her age, she admits.
– Students came to me complaining that their friends knew how to create a fake profile in their name on some, say, gay sites – Adela pointed out. Due to the transfer of social life to the digital world, parents also turn to her for help. They know less and less with whom and how their children communicate.
Fake sick leave
Today, she is also hired by employers who want to know if their employees are faking sick leave.
– We had a couple of cases where, for example, one woman used to go on sick leave, and then sell fruit, vegetables or whatever on the plot because it was her season – she revealed.
The prices for engaging private detectives are different, you will pay them from 45 to 95 euros per hour, depending on what you want to find out, and that it is within legal, ethical and moral frameworks.
