After the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam…the United Nations sends a request for infrastructure

World news

“The United Nations and humanitarian partners, in coordination with the Government of Ukraine, are urgently sending aid, including drinking water, water purification tablets and other necessary assistance,” the Secretary-General of the organization told reporters.

According to him, the tragedy at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station is not only a civil one, but also an environmental disaster.

Guterres noted that the United Nations “does not have independent access to information about the circumstances that led to the destruction” of the hydroelectric power station, but called for an end to any attacks on civilian infrastructure.

“Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure must stop, and accountability and compliance with international humanitarian law must be ensured,” Guterres said.
