An extremely photogenic phenomenon occurred above the Tatras. During sunset, altocumulus lenticularis clouds were captured directly above our highest mountains. The portal iMeteo.sk writes about it.
In addition to the round-shaped clouds, the exceptionality of this image is also given by the pinkish tinge of the sky during sunset and the contrasting white clouds above the mountain tops.
Lenticular clouds
The setting sun and the flow of warm air in the atmosphere created a truly extraordinary sight.
“Lenticularis clouds are formed by a strong flow of sufficiently moist, stable, air mass through some orographic obstacle in the higher parts of the atmosphere, hence the name from the Latin altocumulus, i.e. high pile,”
