World news

During Monday’s ceremony on the occasion of the Police Day at the Castle Square in Warsaw, Andrzej Duda spoke, among others: about interventions undertaken by the officers and what they have to take into account during them. Here, as an example, the Polish president mentioned a “small woman” and a child with a cocked pistol.

On Monday, the celebration of the Police Day took place at Plac Zamkowy in Warsaw. During the ceremony, state and departmental decorations and promotions to the first officer rank were presented to the policemen, and a solemn oath was received from the new policemen from the Warsaw garrison. The central ceremonies were attended by President Andrzej Duda and the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA) Mariusz Kamiński.

Andrzej Duda spoke about the threat to officers. It can be “small women and children”

At the beginning of his speech, the president spoke about the interventions of policemen and the flattering opinions he hears about Polish officers. – No one in the world says that the police in Poland are harsh, on the contrary – sometimes it is said that maybe they intervene too softly. For me, the most important thing is that the policeman intervenes adequately – declared Andrzej Duda. The president added that “this is adequate security, so that the intervention ends safely for the police officer, the person against whom action has been taken and for third parties.”

Until it is over, any intervention is dangerous, because you know perfectly well that the calmest-looking, petite woman can pull out a knife and hit a policeman. That even such a tragic situation can happen that suddenly a child will pull out a gun, even one unprotected by a reckless parent. Because you know, as every intelligent person knows, how infinite the spectrum of dangerous situations is, and most often the police are not called for nothing. She is called when something really happens

– said Andrzej Duda. According to the president, a police officer should be effective, have experience and psychological knowledge and act appropriately to the situation. – I will always stand by the Polish police, honest, professional policemen and policemen who effectively perform their service, even if they have to act decisively so that no one gets hurt – he declared.

Bitter comment from Prosecutor Wrzosek: The Polish Police deal with women and children

Andrzej Duda’s words about the potential threat from women and children were commented on by prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek. “It’s the Polish Police who deal with women and children. Worse with bandits,” she wrote.

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, thanking the policemen, said that Poles feel safe in their country. He referred to the results of surveys in which as many as 88 percent of Poles believe that Poland is a safe country, and as many as 96 percent that their place of residence is safe. Mariusz Kamiński added that such results are at a time when a brutal war is taking place beyond the eastern border of our country. – This is the measure of the success of the Polish police, this is the result of your hard work, your hard service – emphasized Kamiński. On July 24, on the Police Day, the Prime Minister sent the formation a letter in which he informed that “over PLN 10 billion was transferred under the new program of Modernization of Uniformed Services to make the service of officers safe and modern”.
